Ideberg classification of glenoid fractures has five basic types. It is based on evaluation of
338 glenoid fractures and was published in 1995.
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Type I | anterior glenoid rim fracture: avulsion fracture of the anterior glenoid rim IA: fragment size <=5mm IB: fragment size >5mm measured on the film |
| Type II | inferior glenoid fracture: transverse fracture through the glenoid fossa with inferior triangular fragment displaced with the humeral head |
| Type III | superior glenoid fracture: oblique fracture through the glenoid extending through the base of the coracoid process |
| Type IV | horizontal glenoid fracture: horizontal fracture involving both scapula neck and body, fracture line always runs inferior to the spine of the scapula |
| Type V | horizontal glenoid fracture with additional complete or incomplete neck fracture: combines type II and type IV, fracture line separates the inferior part of the glenoid |
