Budd-Chiari syndrome is a relatively rare disorder caused by occlusion of hepatic veins. It presents with abdominal pain, ascites, and hepatomegally.
Budd-Chiari syndrome has four clinical variants:
- acute
- subacute
- chronic
- fulminant
Budd-Chiari syndrome can be:
- primary (congenital obstruction by webs or diaphragms)
- secondary (multiple causes)
